Kyiv: Ukraine's chief negotiator Rustem Umerov has announced that national security advisers from several European countries have arrived in Kyiv for discussions aimed at resolving the ongoing conflict in Ukraine.

According to Anadolu Agency, Umerov disclosed on the US social media platform X that the meeting's participants include representatives from Germany, the UK, France, Italy, Spain, Latvia, Estonia, Lithuania, Poland, Finland, Canada, the Netherlands, Sweden, Norway, and Denmark. In addition, NATO, European Commission, and European Commission officials are also in attendance.

Umerov highlighted that the talks will encompass security and economic issues, work on framework documents, and coordination of subsequent actions with international partners. The meetings are part of a broader series of discussions initiated by Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy, slated for January, as US-mediated diplomatic efforts persist in seeking a resolution to the near four-year-long Russia-Ukraine war.

President Zelenskyy noted that this is the first occurrence of such a meeting in Ukraine. He mentioned that they anticipate participation from the American delegation 'online' during the talks scheduled for January 3. Additional discussions are planned for January 5 and 6, initially between chiefs of general staff, followed by meetings between European leaders and leaders of the 'Coalition of the Willing.'

Zelenskyy emphasized the preparations underway to ensure the productivity of the meeting, with a focus on enhancing support and political confidence in both security guarantees and the peace agreement.
