Warsaw:Polish Foreign Minister Radoslaw Sikorski warned that Europe's position in the "global division of power" is at risk, emphasizing the necessity to enhance defense measures. Speaking at the Warsaw Security Forum, Sikorski highlighted that fulfilling commitments made at the Hague and Ankara summits could fortify European militaries by the decade's end, making them a formidable challenge for Russian President Vladimir Putin.
According to Anadolu Agency, Sikorski stated that the primary concern is not the potential occupation of Europe, but rather its status in global power dynamics. He suggested that Europe's future could be as a significant global power or merely a contributor in tourism and data supply if the US, China, and Russia dominate global influence.
UK Foreign Secretary Ed Miliband, present at the forum, underscored the threat to fundamental values like freedom, democracy, and the rule of law worldwide. He emphasized Europe's crucial role in maintaining a world order that aligns with these values and called for a more serious approach to countering "hybrid warfare."
Miliband stressed the importance of supporting Ukraine through fiscal, energy, and increased sanctions on Moscow. He also highlighted the need to uphold the International Criminal Court and International Court of Justice to maintain accountability and a rules-based international order.
