‘Failure Is Not an Option’ in Gaza Reconstruction, Says Trump Envoy

Washington: Jared Kushner, a key figure in US peace efforts, emphasized that failure in the Gaza Strip is “not an option” as he outlined an ambitious vision for rebuilding the war-torn territory at the inaugural Board of Peace meeting.

According to Anadolu Agency, Kushner, who serves as US President Donald Trump’s son-in-law, expressed a commitment to aid the people of Gaza, aiming to provide them with opportunities for success. He described the initiative as a collaborative effort with Gazans and Israelis to develop “an environment that can be peaceful, that could be functional.”

Kushner highlighted the international cooperation involved, noting that Muslims, Jews, Palestinians, Israelis, and people worldwide have united for the “common goal, which is peace and togetherness.” He acknowledged the importance of focusing on future possibilities rather than past conflicts.

Participants of the Board of Peace were described by Kushner as a group of countries that have self-selected based on a belief in a different future, motivated by considerations for future generations.

A promotional video presented by Kushner illustrated the groundwork for reconstruction, featuring the creation of safe zones to offer shelter, food, healthcare, and education to Palestinian families. Infrastructure efforts, coordinated with the US and the World Bank, aim to employ hundreds of thousands in rebuilding and commercial activities, with plans to restore transportation, water, and energy systems.

The video projected a three-year timeline for the complete reconstruction of Rafah, a reduction in unemployment, and enhanced connectivity of Gaza to the world through a corridor linking Egypt, Israel, Jordan, Saudi Arabia, and the United Arab Emirates, extending to India and Europe. Within ten years, Gaza is envisioned to transform into a self-governing territory with robust industry and housing, integrated into the regional framework.
