Film Diplomacy Conference 2025 Opens in Istanbul to Merge Cinema and International Relations

Istanbul: The Film Diplomacy Conference 2025 opened in Istanbul on Friday, aiming to bridge cinema with diplomatic efforts to address global conflicts.

According to Anadolu Agency, Raheel Ahmad, founder of Film Diplomacy, emphasized the distinct perceptions of film and diplomacy as separate entities traditionally associated with entertainment and politics, respectively. Ahmad expressed the conference's mission to connect these spheres under a unified vision of "building diplomats with lens."

Ahmad highlighted the collaboration with the UN Youth Office and 67 organizations globally, including actors, actresses, and diplomats who endorse the initiative. The primary goal of the conference is to raise awareness about global conflicts, specifically mentioning issues in Palestine and Sudan.

The three-day international event gathers participants worldwide to blend the influence of cinema with diplomatic ideals. Under the theme "Building Diplomats Through Lens," the conference includes a training day facilitated by diplomats, officials, filmmakers, media agencies, sustainability trainers, and intercultural experts. Additionally, it features a 24-hour film challenge where teams create short films focusing on global peace and cooperation, culminating in an award and screening day evaluated by diplomats, directors, and media figures.
