Ankara: Late registration has officially opened for the inaugural "1920 Running Race" that will be held on April 5 in the Turkish capital Ankara as part of the 106th anniversary celebrations of Anadolu. According to Anadolu Agency, the event is sponsored by Gokturk Holding, Ankara's Kecioren Municipality, Trendyol, Kizilay Natural Mineral Water, Kizilay Sparkling Mineral Water, Mixmey, and Acibadem Healthcare Group, with Yesilay acting as a social responsibility partner. The 10-kilometer (6.2-mile) race will commence at 10 am local time (0700GMT) in front of Anadolu's headquarters. The race will follow a course that includes the area around Anitkabir, the mausoleum of Mustafa Kemal Ataturk, founder and first president of the Republic of Trkiye, and will conclude at its starting point. It will be broadcast live on TRT Spor Yildiz. Participants can register from March 25 to April 2 via 1920kosusu.com. Early registration occurred from March 3-10, with regular registration from March 11-24. The late registrati on fee for the event, which accommodates a total of 1,500 participants, is 1,000 Turkish liras ($22.50). In addition to the general classification, the race will feature categories for participants aged 35-39, 40-44, 45-49, 50-54, 55-59, 60-64, 65-69, and 70 and older. In the general classification, first-place winners in both men's and women's categories will receive 100,000 Turkish liras ($2,255) each, second-place winners 75,000 Turkish liras ($1,691), and third-place winners 50,000 Turkish liras ($1,127). The first-place winners in each age group will be awarded 15,000 Turkish liras ($338), second-place winners 10,000 Turkish liras ($225), and third-place winners 5,000 Turkish liras ($112) each. Successful athletes will also receive gifts from the sponsors.
