Paris:France has recorded 97,724 hectares (241,500 acres) of burned land since January, a figure nearly 6.9 times higher than the typical area burned by this time of year.

According to Anadolu Agency, this year's burned area significantly surpasses the average of 14,177 hectares (35,000 acres) usually reported by September 24. The current figure is also 49% higher than the previous record for the same date, which was set in 2022.

FeuxFrance reported that an average fire season would have recorded 86% of its annual fires by September 24. Based on the current pace, the year could conclude with approximately 11,639 fires.

Additionally, about 9% of the fires this year are attributed to natural causes, while the remainder are linked to human activities, with roughly 30% estimated to have been started deliberately.
