Paris: France expressed support for a roadmap recently approved by Syria, Jordan, and the US which seeks to resolve an ongoing crisis in Syria's Suwayda province, calling it an "encouraging first step toward long-term de-escalation." A statement issued by the French Foreign Ministry underscored the significance of translating the plan into swift, concrete action on the ground.

According to Anadolu Agency, the statement emphasized the need for continued dialogue to ensure the roadmap's rapid implementation. It highlighted the importance of anchoring all diplomatic efforts in the preservation of security, Syria's territorial integrity, and the protection of civilian populations.

Trkiye's Foreign Ministry also welcomed the roadmap. In a statement released early Wednesday, the ministry expressed support for the plan aimed at preserving calm, ensuring stability, and preventing renewed conflict in Suwayda, a southern province of Syria.

Syrian Foreign Minister Asaad al-Shaibani announced a seven-step roadmap on Tuesday to address the crisis in Suwayda. This announcement followed talks in Damascus with his Jordanian counterpart Ayman Safadi and US envoy to Syria, Tom Barrack. Al-Shaibani outlined the plan's objectives, which include ensuring uninterrupted humanitarian and medical aid to Suwayda, restoring essential services, and deploying local security forces to secure roads and facilitate movement.

The roadmap also aims to compensate those affected, enable the return of displaced persons, clarify the fate of the missing, launch a reconciliation process, and hold accountable individuals responsible for assaults on civilians and property. Suwayda has observed a ceasefire since July 19, following a week of armed clashes involving Druze groups, Bedouin tribes, and Israeli military attacks.
