Paris: French President Emmanuel Macron and Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy have agreed to convene for discussions following the Alaska summit between U.S. President Donald Trump and Russian President Vladimir Putin, as announced by the Elysee Palace.

According to Anadolu Agency, the Elysee Palace confirmed the upcoming meeting to broadcaster BFM TV, stating that Macron and Zelenskyy will arrange a meeting at a mutually convenient time after the Alaska summit. However, specifics regarding the date and location of this meeting remain undisclosed.

The sources emphasized the continuous and close communication between Macron and Zelenskyy, with Macron maintaining frequent contact with the Ukrainian president up until the last moments before the Alaska summit.

This week, Zelenskyy engaged in discussions with German Chancellor Friedrich Merz in Berlin. Merz also hosted a virtual meeting of European leaders, including President Trump, in preparation for the critical talks concerning Ukraine. Zelenskyy further met with British Prime Minister Keir Starmer in London.

Notably absent from the Alaska summit, Zelenskyy has cautioned against any decisions made without Ukraine's involvement. He has firmly rejected the idea of ceding territory for a peace agreement. Meanwhile, President Trump has proposed that land swaps might serve the interests of both parties and potentially resolve the conflict that has persisted since February 2022.
