Paris: Military chiefs from Trkiye, Britain, and France on Thursday met in Paris amid intensified discussions across the continent around restructuring European security. Turkish Chief of General Staff Metin Gurak, his French counterpart Thierry Burkhard, and Britain's Tony Radakin gathered to address regional defense and security issues.

According to Anadolu Agency, the military leaders had a "convergence of views on the need to provide a solid response to support Ukraine" and ensure Europe's security, as noted by Burkhard on X. This meeting followed closely on the heels of a larger gathering where heads of general staff from over 30 countries convened in Paris to deliberate on support for Ukraine, notably without the presence of the US.

On a separate note, Turkish Defense Minister Yasar Guler hosted UK Defense Secretary John Healey in Ankara on Thursday. The two defense officials exchanged perspectives on bilateral and regional defense and security matters before leading inter-delegation talks.

These discussions occur as European nations seek to enhance defense spending and cooperation, amidst indications that the US may reduce its presence on the continent.
