Paris: The French parliament passed a bill Wednesday to combat antisemitism in higher education, with a strong majority of lawmakers voting in favor of the proposed legislation.

According to Anadolu Agency, the bill, 'Combating Antisemitism in Higher Education,' was approved in the National Assembly in a 366 - 88 vote, marking its final adoption by parliament. The legislation mandates that universities provide students with education to counter antisemitism, racism, discrimination, violence, and hate speech.

Furthermore, the bill requires the appointment of a dedicated official within newly established 'equality and diversity' offices at universities. This official will be responsible for identifying and preventing antisemitic and racist incidents on campus. Additionally, the legislation obliges university administrations to promptly remove any antisemitic, racist, or discriminatory posters or writings found on their premises.
