Ankara: French President Emmanuel Macron declared the recent spate of prison attacks as 'unacceptable violence' on Wednesday. In a statement posted on X, he emphasized the gravity of the situation, stating, "Some are trying to intimidate our prison staff and are attacking the institutions with unacceptable violence. They will be found, judged, and punished."

According to Anadolu Agency, Macron highlighted the deployment of a third internal security force tasked with the mission to "defend the rule of law and public space." He further expressed his unwavering support for the Ministry of Justice agents, assuring them of his and the Nation's backing.

The incidents have affected prisons in Toulon, Nanterre, Valence, Luynes, and Agen since Sunday, marking a troubling trend of violence. The latest attack occurred early Wednesday, where three vehicles were set ablaze in the staff parking lot of the Tarascon detention center in southern France.

In light of these developments, the French National Anti-Terrorism Prosecutor's Office (PNAT) assumed control of the investigation on Wednesday, signaling the seriousness with which the authorities are addressing the incidents.
