Kuala lumpur: Malaysian Prime Minister Anwar Ibrahim announced on Thursday that the complete restoration of gas operations in the conflict-stricken Middle East is expected to take five years.

According to Anadolu Agency, Prime Minister Anwar Ibrahim shared that even if the ongoing conflict ends imminently, it will take at least three years to conduct minor repairs before gas operations can resume. This information was conveyed to him by Qatari Emir Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad Al Thani during a monthly assembly with Transport Ministry staff. Anwar emphasized that achieving full operational capacity might extend between three to five years.

Recent developments indicate that Washington and Tehran have agreed to a two-week truce as of Tuesday. This truce aims to create a conducive environment for negotiating a final agreement to end the war, which has resulted in numerous casualties since February 28. The conflict has severely impacted the region’s energy infrastructure, with dozens of facilities suffering damage, as reported by the International Energy Agency.
