Galatasaray Secure Aleksei Batrakov in Landmark Transfer from Lokomotiv Moscow

Istanbul: Turkish Super Lig champions Galatasaray have completed the signing of attacking midfielder Aleksei Batrakov from Lokomotiv Moscow on a five-year contract, the club announced on Thursday.

According to Anadolu Agency, Galatasaray agreed to pay Lokomotiv Moscow a transfer fee of £25 million ($29.1 million) for Batrakov. Additionally, Lokomotiv will receive 15% of the profit from any future sale of the Russian No. 10, who is now set to earn a guaranteed net salary of £3.25 million per season under the new agreement. This contract will span from the 2026-27 campaign through to the 2030-31 season.

Batrakov arrived at Istanbul's Ataturk Airport earlier on Thursday, flying in from Moscow with his family. His arrival was met with enthusiasm as Galatasaray officials and supporters welcomed him before he departed the airport in a private vehicle.

In addition to his impressive career step, Batrakov makes history by becoming the first Russian footballer to join the Istanbul club in its 121-year history. At just 21 years old, the product of Lokomotiv Moscow's academy had an outstanding season, scoring 13 goals and providing nine assists in 28 Russian Premier League appearances.
