Jakarta: At least five people have died, and four others remain missing following a significant landslide of waste at Indonesia's largest landfill, as reported by officials on Monday. The incident took place at the Bantargebang Integrated Waste Processing Site, located just outside Jakarta.

According to Anadolu Agency, the landfill, which is situated in Bekasi and has been receiving municipal waste from the capital for the past three decades, experienced a massive collapse of its waste mound. The Bantargebang site spans an area equivalent to 200 football fields. A rescue official informed state-run Antara News that another body was discovered, bringing the total number of fatalities to five.

Authorities are continuing their efforts to locate the four individuals believed to be trapped beneath the debris. Thus far, rescue teams have successfully extracted four survivors.
