Gaza: More than 6,000 aid trucks carrying crucial food and supplies remain stranded in Jordan and Egypt, unable to enter Gaza due to Israeli restrictions, as warned by the head of the UN agency for Palestinian refugees. Philippe Lazzarini, the agency chief, highlighted the urgent need for political intervention to resolve the crisis.

According to Anadolu Agency, Lazzarini emphasized that the blockade is a significant barrier to addressing the 'manmade hunger' crisis in Gaza. He called for lifting the siege, opening the gates, and ensuring safe and dignified access for those in need of aid. Lazzarini also addressed accusations of aid diversion, citing a recent report that found no 'systemic' misuse of humanitarian aid in Gaza.

A study by the US Agency for International Development examined 156 cases of lost or stolen aid between October 2023 and May 2025. The study found no evidence that the Palestinian group Hamas benefited from US-supplied aid. This report contradicts the claims by Israel and the US, which have justified a controversial armed private aid operation resulting in over 1,000 deaths among those seeking aid.

Lazzarini urged for the UN, including UNRWA and its partners, to operate without bureaucratic or political obstacles. Despite international calls for a ceasefire, the Israeli army has continued its offensive on Gaza since October 7, 2023. The offensive has resulted in the deaths of over 59,700 Palestinians, mostly women and children, and has led to severe food shortages.

In November, the International Criminal Court issued arrest warrants for Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu and former Defense Minister Yoav Gallant for war crimes and crimes against humanity in Gaza. Additionally, Israel faces a genocide case at the International Court of Justice for its actions in the enclave.
