Gaza: Palestinian medics recovered the bodies of 42 people from under the rubble in Gaza, bringing the overall death toll from Israel’s war since October 2023 to 47,460, the Health Ministry said on Thursday.

According to Anadolu Agency, a ministry statement indicated that nine more injured individuals were admitted to hospitals within the past 24 hours, increasing the total number of injured to 111,580 during the Israeli onslaught. The statement also highlighted the challenges faced by rescuers in reaching many victims still trapped under the rubble and on the roads.

A ceasefire agreement took effect in Gaza on January 19, effectively halting Israel’s attacks on the enclave. Despite the ceasefire, the aftermath of the Israeli onslaught has resulted in over 11,000 people missing, widespread destruction, and a humanitarian crisis that has claimed numerous lives, including those of elderly people and children, in what is considered one of the worst global humanitarian disasters.

The International Criminal Court (ICC) took action in November last year by issuing arrest warrants for Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu and his former Defense Minister Yoav Gallant. These warrants were issued in response to allegations of war crimes and crimes against humanity in Gaza.
