Gaza Death Toll Nears 56,000 Amid Israel’s Genocidal War on Palestinians

Gaza: At least 55,959 Palestinians have been killed in Israel's genocidal war since October 2023, the Health Ministry said on Sunday.

According to Anadolu Agency, a ministry statement reported that 51 bodies were brought to hospitals in the last 24 hours, while 104 people were injured. This brings the total number of injuries to 131,242 as a result of the Israeli onslaught. The statement also noted that many victims remain trapped under rubble and on roads, as rescuers face challenges reaching them.

The Israeli army resumed its attacks on the Gaza Strip on March 18, resulting in 5,647 deaths and 19,201 injuries, effectively shattering a ceasefire and prisoner exchange agreement that had been in place since January.

In November, the International Criminal Court issued arrest warrants for Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu and former Defense Minister Yoav Gallant, citing war crimes and crimes against humanity in Gaza. Additionally, Israel is facing a genocide case at the International Court of Justice for its actions in the enclave.
