Gaza Death Toll Passes 48,200 as More Bodies Found in Rubble

Gaza: Palestinian medics and rescue teams retrieved eight more bodies from the rubble in the Gaza Strip, pushing the overall death toll from Israel's war since October 2023 to 48,219, the Health Ministry said on Tuesday. A ministry statement also indicated that the toll included three Palestinians killed by Israeli fire in the last 24 hours.

According to Anadolu Agency, 10 injured people were admitted to hospitals, taking the number of the injured to 111,665 in the Israeli onslaught. The Health Ministry reported that many victims remain trapped under the rubble and on the roads as rescuers face challenges in reaching them.

A ceasefire agreement has been in place in Gaza since Jan. 19, halting the Israeli war that has caused significant destruction and left the Palestinian enclave in ruins. The International Criminal Court issued arrest warrants in November last year for Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu and his former Defense Minister Yoav Gallant for war crimes and crimes against humanity in Gaza.

Israel also faces a genocide case at the International Court of Justice for its actions in the enclave.
