Gaza: Several electricity generators at hospitals in the Gaza Strip have ceased operation due to shortages of oil, spare parts, and fuel, the Health Ministry reported Sunday. According to Anadolu Agency, the ministry stated that several generators stopped functioning in recent days, raising alarms about the escalating difficulties in sustaining electricity supplies at hospitals due to an insufficient supply of generator oil.

The Health Ministry highlighted that the limited quantities of oil recently permitted into Gaza by Israel only suffice for emergency needs, while hospitals have a monthly requirement of approximately 2,500 liters. The ministry further noted that the remaining generators are working continuously under challenging technical and mechanical conditions, struggling to meet the electricity demands of all critical departments.

It issued a warning that additional generators could cease functioning without urgent oil changes and emphasized the need for the immediate entry of essential supplies to ensure their continued operation. Generators have become the primary electricity source for Gaza's hospitals amid ongoing power outages, but shortages of fuel and spare parts have frequently disrupted their operation.

The situation is exacerbated by Israel's military actions in Gaza since October 2023, which have resulted in the deaths of over 73,000 Palestinians and injuries to more than 174,000, causing extensive destruction throughout the enclave, according to Gaza authorities.
