Palestine: The Gaza Strip is experiencing a critical humanitarian and demographic crisis as a result of the ongoing Israeli conflict since October 2023, according to a statement from the Palestinian Central Bureau of Statistics.

According to Anadolu Agency, the bureau reported that over 57,000 Palestinians have been killed in Israeli attacks, including 18,000 children and 12,000 women, accounting for 2.4% of Gaza's total population. Additionally, nearly 100,000 Palestinians have fled the enclave since the onset of the conflict.

At the beginning of the Israeli war, Gaza's population was recorded at 2,226,544 in 2023. Current estimates indicate a decline to approximately 2,129,724, marking a 6% decrease compared to mid-2024 projections. Further projections suggest the population has decreased to 2,114,301, reflecting a 10% decline from mid-2025 estimates.

The bureau has expressed concern over a significant shift and distortion in the age and population pyramid, attributing this to the targeted attacks on younger age groups by the Israeli military, specifically children and youth.

In response to the situation, last November, the International Criminal Court issued arrest warrants for Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu and former Defense Minister Yoav Gallant, citing war crimes and crimes against humanity in Gaza. Israel is also facing a genocide case at the International Court of Justice related to its actions in the enclave.
