Brandenburg: Unidentified suspects carried out a sabotage attack on an electrical facility at a major power plant in Brandenburg, authorities said Tuesday.

According to Anadolu Agency, Brandenburg's Interior Minister Jan Redmann informed reporters that the suspects used projectile devices to cause a short circuit in an extra-high-voltage line near the plant. He emphasized that there was no confirmed evidence of an explosive device detonating, despite various media reports suggesting such occurrences.

Police had earlier confirmed the discovery of explosive devices at an electrical substation, likely constructed from pyrotechnics. However, accounts varied regarding whether any explosions had taken place. Bild reported that police confirmed an explosion, noting that several unconventional incendiary and explosive devices were found, though not all devices detonated.

Public broadcaster RBB presented a different version, with police spokeswoman Stefanie Pilz stating that damage to a power line was reported around 8 a.m. local time. Although several explosive and incendiary devices were located, she clarified that 'there had been no explosion.'

Grid operator 50Hertz reported that unknown perpetrators damaged several of its transmission lines, causing a brief service interruption. The company assured that all lines were back in operation and the public power supply remained unaffected.

The incident occurred at the Jaenschwalde plant, one of Germany's largest brown-coal stations located in eastern Brandenburg near the Polish border.
