German President Reaffirms Commitment to Europe During France Visit

Berlin:Germany will continue its commitment to Europe despite internal political and economic changes, stated German President Frank-Walter Steinmeier during a state visit to France.

According to Anadolu Agency, Steinmeier emphasized that Germany remains a dedicated member of the European Union. During his meeting with French President Emmanuel Macron, he highlighted the importance of Germany's role as a European country, particularly in security policy.

Macron stressed the necessity of Franco-German cooperation to advance Europe, noting that without their unified effort, Europe would struggle to progress. He also pointed out the significance of collaboration in strengthening democracy at a time when conspiracy theories and skepticism are prevalent.

The discussions between the two leaders also addressed the growing challenges of political polarization and the rise of radical political forces, which Steinmeier noted were complicating governance and necessitating reforms. He acknowledged that resolving Germany's growth crisis would require change.

Steinmeier's visit marked the first state visit to France by a German federal president in 13 years and served as a farewell, as both presidents are set to leave office next year. Macron reflected on the historic relationship between Germany and France, emphasizing their shared understanding of the costs of war and the importance of peace and reconciliation.
