Berlin: Germany exported 3.4 million units of new cars last year, marking a 2.5% increase compared to the previous year, according to data released by the federal statistical authority Destatis. Despite this rise in export volume, the country experienced a decrease in earnings from these exports.
According to Anadolu Agency, Germany's revenue from exporting new cars amounted to £135 billion ($146.3 billion) in the previous year, reflecting a 1.3% decline. This drop in earnings occurred despite the increased number of cars sold internationally.
In 2024, the United States emerged as the largest importer of German-manufactured cars, accounting for 13.1% of all car exports. The United Kingdom and France were the next largest importers, following closely behind.
Throughout the year, Germany exported a variety of vehicles including 1.43 million petrol engine cars, 511,639 diesel cars, 584,414 hybrid cars, and 881,069 electric cars. This diverse portfolio highlights Germany's strategic focus on catering to a wide range of consumer preferences in the global automotive market.
