Hamburg: Hamburg Airport gradually resumed operations on Friday afternoon after a traveler entered a restricted security area without authorization, triggering an alarm and forcing a full terminal evacuation.
According to Anadolu Agency, the incident occurred when a passenger inadvertently pressed an emergency door button, gaining brief access to the secure zone in Terminal 2. This action set off an alarm, leading to the immediate detention of the traveler who was taken to an airport police station.
Despite the swift arrest, authorities conducted a precautionary sweep of the secure perimeter to ensure safety. Passengers who had cleared security were escorted out of the restricted area, while those already on aircraft were required to disembark, leading to a temporary halt in all departures.
The security breach and subsequent evacuation caused significant disruption for hundreds of travelers, with delays reported to be as long as three hours.
