Gaza city: Hamas accused Israel on Sunday of deliberately escalating its attacks on the Gaza Strip to derail understandings reached with mediators and the US administration on completing implementation of the ceasefire agreement.

According to Anadolu Agency, the Palestinian group stated that Israeli attacks since Sunday morning had resulted in the deaths of more than 18 Palestinians and the destruction of entire families. The group described the bombardment as a "deliberate escalation" by the Israeli government, led by Netanyahu, aimed at obstructing the understandings reached with mediators, including the US administration, to complete the ceasefire agreement's implementation.

Hamas urged mediators and guarantors of the ceasefire to "assume their responsibilities," condemning the Israeli attacks and calling for immediate pressure on Israel to halt its assaults and comply with the agreement. The group characterized the attacks as acts that "amount to war crimes and crimes against humanity," appealing to the international community to take legal action against Israeli leaders.

Additionally, Hamas called for measures to protect Palestinians, asserting that they continued to face the threats of genocide and displacement. On Friday, the Peace Board and US President Donald Trump announced an agreement to implement the next phase of the Gaza ceasefire, with the board stating that Hamas had accepted a detailed roadmap. Israel has not officially commented on the proposal.
