Gaza: A senior member of Hamas announced that a prisoner exchange with Israel might commence on Monday as part of a ceasefire agreement in Gaza. Mousa Abou Marzouq revealed this development during a televised interview, indicating that Hamas plans to avoid militarization and public celebrations during the handover process.

According to Anadolu Agency, the first phase of the Gaza ceasefire agreement under US President Donald Trump's plan took effect at noon local time on Friday. The agreement, published by Israel's public broadcaster KAN, mandates that Hamas release the living Israeli captives within 72 hours following Israel's ratification of the deal. Additionally, Hamas is required to provide information on deceased Israeli captives to a joint mechanism involving Trkiye, Qatar, Egypt, and the International Committee of the Red Cross.

Israeli assessments suggest that 48 Israeli captives remain in Gaza, with 20 still alive. Meanwhile, over 11,100 Palestinians are detained in Israeli prisons, facing allegations of torture, starvation, and medical neglect, with numerous deaths reported by Palestinian and Israeli human rights and media outlets.

Abou Marzouq noted that Hamas possesses several negotiating cards, describing the prisoner issue as a justification employed by Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu to continue military operations in Gaza. He emphasized that Hamas is collaborating with mediators to address obstacles and facilitate the release of Palestinian leaders imprisoned in Israel.
