Hamas to Hand Over Remains of 2 Israeli Hostages Tonight Under Ceasefire Deal

Gaza city: The Palestinian resistance group Hamas confirmed Saturday evening that it will hand over the remains of two Israeli captives tonight under a Gaza ceasefire agreement. The group's armed wing, the Qassam Brigades, announced on Telegram that the handover is scheduled for 10.00 pm local time (1900GMT).

According to Anadolu Agency, Hamas released 20 living Israeli hostages and handed over the remains of 11 more captives in exchange for nearly 2,000 Palestinian prisoners as part of the ceasefire agreement. The deal was reached between Israel and Hamas last week, based on a plan presented by US President Donald Trump. The first phase of the plan included the release of Israeli hostages in exchange for Palestinian prisoners. The plan also outlines the rebuilding of Gaza and the establishment of a new governing mechanism without Hamas.

Since October 2023, the conflict has resulted in the deaths of 68,116 people and injuries to 170,200 others, as reported by the Gaza Health Ministry on Saturday.
