Hezbollah Claims Downing of Israeli Drone in Eastern Lebanon

Beirut: Hezbollah announced on Thursday that it successfully shot down an Israeli military drone over eastern Lebanon. The group claimed that the aircraft, identified as a Heron 1 drone belonging to the Israeli army, was brought down with a missile in the Bekaa region.

According to Anadolu Agency, the drone was reportedly flying over the Nahle area in the eastern Bekaa Valley when it was hit by what Hezbollah described as 'a specialized missile.' The Israeli military has not provided any comment regarding Hezbollah's statement.

Earlier in the day, Hezbollah issued a series of statements asserting that it had targeted Israeli army vehicles and troop concentrations in the southern Lebanese towns of Tayr Harfa, Deir Siriane, and Odaisseh. These actions were reportedly in retaliation for Israeli ceasefire violations and ongoing assaults.

Despite a ceasefire that commenced on April 17, Israeli military actions in Lebanon have resulted in significant casualties and displacement. Since March 2, official figures indicate that 3,711 people have been killed, 11,483 wounded, and more than one million displaced as of Wednesday.
