Hezbollah Claims Responsibility for Triple Attack on Israeli Military Targets in Southern Lebanon

Beirut: The Lebanese resistance group, Hezbollah, announced that it executed three attacks on Israeli military positions in southern Lebanon. The group stated that these actions were in retaliation to what it described as violations by the Israeli army of the ceasefire agreement, which commenced on April 17 and is due to expire on Sunday.

According to Anadolu Agency, Hezbollah disclosed through separate statements that two of the attacks were directed at gatherings of Israeli soldiers in the town of Taybeh. One was executed using unspecified weapons, while the other involved a suicide drone. Additionally, the group claimed that its fighters successfully downed an Israeli drone in the town of Majdal Zoun, though no further details were provided.

In a continuous escalation, the Israeli army reportedly conducted offensives in southern Lebanon, which included burning and demolishing homes in the towns of Mays al-Jabal and Khiam. These actions were characterized as fresh violations of the ceasefire.

These developments come ahead of a significant diplomatic engagement, as Lebanon and Israel are set to commence a second round of talks at the ambassadorial level in Washington later on Thursday. The discussions aim to forge a lasting agreement to end the ongoing conflict.

Anadolu's tally, based on Lebanese official sources and Israeli army statements, highlighted that on Wednesday, the Israeli army launched 23 attacks on Lebanon, resulting in the deaths of six individuals, including a journalist, and injuring five others. This occurred on the sixth day of the ceasefire.

The conflict, which intensified after the US and Israel began a war with Iran in late February, has led to over 2,200 fatalities and displaced more than 1 million people as a result of expanded Israeli attacks on Lebanon since March 2.
