Beirut: Hezbollah said Thursday that it fired rockets at Israeli military positions in northern Israel in retaliation for the ongoing Israeli attacks against Lebanon. In a statement, the Lebanese group said its fighters targeted Israeli sites in the Galilee region with rocket barrages. It said the attacks were 'in response to the criminal Israeli aggression that targeted dozens of Lebanese cities and towns, including the southern suburbs of Beirut.'

According to Anadolu Agency, Lebanon's Health Ministry and local media earlier reported that at least 12 people were killed in Israeli airstrikes in northern and southern Lebanon on Thursday. Israel and Hezbollah have exchanged cross-border attacks since Monday following a large-scale US-Israeli offensive on Iran, which has resulted in more than 900 casualties since Saturday, including Supreme Leader Ali Khamenei and top military officials.

Lebanese authorities have indicated that Israeli attacks have killed at least 72 people and injured nearly 450 others since Monday. Israel has repeatedly violated a ceasefire agreement with Hezbollah, signed in November 2024, carrying out near-daily strikes that have left hundreds dead and wounded.

Israel began its offensive against Lebanon in October 2023 and escalated it into a full-scale war in September 2024, causing the deaths of more than 4,000 people and injuring about 17,000.
