Seoul: Japanese automaker Honda Motor has announced its decision to discontinue automobile sales operations in South Korea by the end of 2026, while maintaining its motorcycle business and after-sales support within the country.

According to Anadolu Agency, the decision to halt car sales comes as Honda seeks to adapt to evolving global and South Korean automotive markets. The company will wind down the automobile sales operations of its Seoul-based subsidiary, Honda Korea, as part of a strategic review aimed at concentrating corporate resources to bolster mid- to long-term competitiveness.

Honda emphasized that it will continue to provide after-sales services for existing vehicle owners, which includes maintenance, parts supply, and warranty support. The company also stated that Honda Korea will focus on its motorcycle business as the core of its operations in South Korea and plans to expand by enhancing product offerings and customer experience.

Honda has been operating its motorcycle business in South Korea since 2002 and entered the automobile market in 2004.
