Washington: Four Democrats in the House of Representatives have called on US President Donald Trump to bring an end to the ongoing conflict in the Gaza Strip by facilitating negotiations among all parties involved.

According to Anadolu Agency, Reps. Gregory Meeks, Rosa DeLauro, Jim Himes, and Jamie Raskin expressed a "deep sense of urgency and moral responsibility" in a letter sent to President Trump. They highlighted the severe humanitarian crisis and geopolitical instability caused by the conflict, urging the President to leverage American diplomacy for a swift and lasting resolution.

The legislators emphasized that Israel's primary military goals in Gaza have been met, and continuing the conflict would only worsen regional tensions, deepen the humanitarian disaster, and jeopardize the security of both Israelis and Palestinians. They called for immediate action to reconvene all relevant parties, including Israel, Palestinian leaders, regional stakeholders, the United States, and Special Envoy Steve Witkoff, at the negotiating table.

The letter also urged President Trump to prioritize a permanent ceasefire as a crucial diplomatic objective. Furthermore, the lawmakers insisted on the return of Gaza to Palestinian civilian control without Hamas and opposed any plans for the forcible displacement of Palestinians from the region.
