Aden:Two ballistic missiles launched by the Houthi group targeted Aden International Airport in southern Yemen early Wednesday, as reported by local security authorities. The attack did not result in any casualties, and the situation remains stable, according to Aden's Security Department. Security forces have been placed on the 'highest level of readiness.'
According to Anadolu Agency, local Yemeni outlets had earlier published footage showing explosions during the missile attack. This incident coincides with intensified fighting as Yemeni government forces continue their Operation Dawn of Yemen.
On Tuesday, the Yemeni army reported that around 100 Houthi fighters were killed and 150 others wounded in operations across Taiz on Monday. Government forces also claimed to have retaken several strategic mountain positions in the province.
Yemen's Presidential Leadership Council Chairman Rashad al-Alimi stated on Monday that the operation aims to reclaim the capital Sanaa and restore state institutions from Houthi control. This escalation represents one of the most significant rounds of fighting since a UN-brokered truce in April 2022 provided a period of relative calm.
The conflict in Yemen began in 2014 when the Houthis seized the capital Sanaa and several provinces, prompting a Saudi-led coalition to intervene in 2015 in support of the internationally recognized government.
