Yemen: Yemen’s Houthi group announced on Sunday that four of its members were killed as hostilities with government forces continue to intensify across the country.

According to Anadolu Agency, the group’s Al-Masirah television network reported that funerals were held for three officers in the northwestern Hajjah province and one in Ibb, south of the capital city, Sanaa. The exact circumstances of their deaths were not disclosed by the group.

On Thursday, it was reported by the government-aligned Saba news agency that the Houthi group has laid to rest 57 members who have perished over the past ten days. This recent escalation disrupts the relative calm experienced in Yemen since April 2022 in a conflict that has persisted for nearly 12 years. The war, which began between the government forces and the Houthis, has seen the latter seize control of Sanaa and other key regions since September 2014.

Recent weeks have witnessed a resurgence of fighting in several provinces, notably Marib, Al-Jawf, Al-Dhalea, and Taiz. Yemen remains mired in one of the most severe humanitarian and economic crises globally, exacerbated by the continuing violence.
