Assam: An Indian Air Force (IAF) fighter aircraft has gone missing in the northeastern state of Assam, as per an official statement. The aircraft, identified as a Su-30 MKI, was reported overdue after it lost contact with the control center.

According to Anadolu Agency, the IAF stated that the aircraft had taken off from Jorhat in Assam and was last in contact at 7.42 pm local time (1412 GMT). The communication with the aircraft ceased unexpectedly, raising concerns about its whereabouts and the safety of its crew.

The Indian Air Force has confirmed that "details are being ascertained" regarding the incident. In response, a search and rescue mission has been initiated to locate the missing fighter jet and its pilots. The IAF is currently working to gather more information to understand the circumstances leading to the aircraft's disappearance.
