Amritsar: The Indian army announced on Saturday that Pakistani drone strikes are persistently occurring along the western border. The military highlighted this escalation on X, emphasizing that these strikes represent a significant violation of India's sovereignty.

According to Anadolu Agency, the Indian army reported that multiple armed drones from Pakistan were detected over the Khasa Cantonment in Amritsar, Punjab. These hostile drones were promptly engaged and neutralized by Indian air defense units. The Indian army condemned Pakistan's aggressive actions, stating that such attempts to endanger civilians are unacceptable and vowed to thwart any further enemy advances.

The statement from India follows Pakistan's recent announcement of "Operation Bunyan-un-Marsoos," or "Iron Wall," which involved missile launches in retaliation to India's "Operation Sindoor" inside Pakistan on May 6. The operation reportedly resulted in the deaths of 33 individuals and injured 62 others, as per the Pakistan army. In the ongoing conflict, at least 17 people have been killed along the Line of Control in Indian-administered Kashmir. While Pakistan has focused on missile attacks, the Indian army has primarily noted the presence of drones and unspecified munitions in its airspace.
