Jakarta: Indonesia lauded the role of Trkiye, the US, Egypt, and Qatar in facilitating the Gaza ceasefire, while committing to actively support the reconstruction efforts in Gaza. "Indonesia expresses its appreciation for the mediation efforts by the United States, Egypt, Qatar, and Trkiye, and underscores the importance of implementing all provisions of the ceasefire agreement in good faith," an Indonesian Foreign Ministry statement declared.

According to Anadolu Agency, Jakarta voiced hope that humanitarian access will be promptly and broadly opened, and welcomed the initial phase of the ceasefire. Indonesia called on the international community to leverage this opportunity to resume the peace process in Palestine, advocating for a Two-State Solution and the establishment of an independent and sovereign State of Palestine in line with relevant UN resolutions and international law.

The Gaza ceasefire agreement was brokered between Israel and Hamas in Egypt's Red Sea city of Sharm el-Sheikh, with mediation by Qatar, Egypt, the US, and Trkiye. The agreement, first announced on September 29 by Trump, includes a 20-point plan featuring the release of all Israeli captives in exchange for Palestinian prisoners, a permanent ceasefire, disarmament of Hamas, and reconstruction of Gaza.

Since October 2023, Israeli attacks have resulted in nearly 67,200 Palestinian deaths in the enclave, predominantly affecting women and children. The continuous bombardment has rendered Gaza nearly uninhabitable, causing widespread hunger and disease. Israel has approved the initial phase of the ceasefire agreement, and Hamas leader Khalil al-Hayya stated that the group received assurances that the deal signifies the complete end of the war in Gaza.
