Informal tripartite meeting on Cyprus to take place in October, Dujarric tells CNA


The UN Secretary-General invited the leaders of the two communities in Cyprus to an informal tripartite meeting on the Cyprus issue set to take place in New York in October, UNSG’s Spokesperson Stephane Dujarric told CNA.

Asked by Cyprus News Agency, Dujarric, confirmed the information that an informal trilateral meeting on Cyprus issue will be held in New York in October.

‘The date of the informal meeting between the Greek Cypriot and Turkish Cypriot sides in the presence of the Secretary General will be announced soon,” he said.

“During his recent bilateral meetings in New York, the Secretary-General invited the leader of the Greek Cypriot Community, Mr. Nikos Christodoulides, and the leader of the Turkish Cypriot Community, Mr. Ersin Tatar, to an informal trilateral discussion in October, in order to have an exchange on the way forward on the Cyprus issue. Both leaders have accepted this invitation. The date of the meeting will be announced in due time,” he noted.
