Khartoum: Some 1,100 people have fled the city of Bara in Sudan's North Kordofan state due to worsening insecurity, bringing the total number of displaced civilians over the past four days to 35,620, the International Organization for Migration (IOM) said Thursday.

According to Anadolu Agency, the UN agency reported that the displaced civilians have moved to various locations across the city of Ed-Dueim in White Nile state in southern Sudan. The agency highlighted that multiple waves of displacement were observed in the localities of Sheikan, Rahad, Bara, Umm Ruwaba, and Umm Damm Haj Ahmed in North Kordofan, contributing to the total number of displaced people from October 26 to 29.

Earlier Thursday, Sudanese authorities reported incidents of deaths and injuries resulting from a drone attack by the paramilitary Rapid Support Forces (RSF) on the Zareibat Sheikh El Borai area in North Kordofan.

The ongoing conflict, which began on April 15, 2023, between the Sudanese army and the RSF has continued to defy numerous regional and international mediation efforts. The war has resulted in the deaths of approximately 20,000 people and has displaced over 15 million individuals as refugees and internally displaced persons, according to UN and local reports.
