Zurich: The International Chess Federation (FIDE) filed a formal complaint Tuesday against former World Champion Vladimir Kramnik over repeated public accusations of cheating against two fellow grandmasters.

According to Anadolu Agency, the complaint was submitted to FIDE's Ethics and Disciplinary Commission and names Kramnik as the respondent. It cites a pattern of conduct over roughly two years involving American GM Daniel Naroditsky and Czech GM David Navara. Naroditsky, the 2013 World Junior Champion and chess commentator, passed away at the age of 29 on October 20, although the cause of his death has not been disclosed.

Kramnik had previously accused Naroditsky of cheating last year and continued to share his suspicions on social media, allegations that Naroditsky had denied. FIDE stated that the complaint addresses potential violations involving harassment and the insulting of an individual's dignity.

In a statement, Yolander Persaud, chairwoman of the commission, mentioned that if the complaint is accepted, Kramnik will have up to three weeks to respond. After reviewing all evidence, the panel will deliberate and issue a decision, which could include sanctions.
