Cairo: An international meeting held in Cairo has resulted in an agreement to establish a "joint operations room" to monitor the ceasefire deal in the Gaza Strip, which is set to commence on Sunday. The meeting included representatives from Egypt, Qatar, the United States, and Israel, who gathered to discuss the implementation mechanisms of the ceasefire agreement.

According to Anadolu Agency, state-affiliated Al-Qahera News channel reported that an unidentified Egyptian source confirmed the formation of the operations room. The source noted that the meeting concluded on a positive note and emphasized the establishment of the operations room to oversee the implementation of the ceasefire mechanisms. The operations room will include representatives from the four aforementioned countries, as well as from Palestine. However, the news outlet did not provide additional details about the meeting or its outcomes.

In related developments, Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu's office announced that the Security Cabinet has approved a prisoner swap and ceasefire agreement. The ceasefire deal follows an announcement by Qatar earlier in the week, which outlined a three-phase agreement aimed at ending over 15 months of Israeli military actions in Gaza. These actions have resulted in the deaths of nearly 47,000 individuals and have devastated the enclave.

Additionally, the International Criminal Court issued arrest warrants in November for Netanyahu and his former Defense Minister Yoav Gallant on charges of war crimes and crimes against humanity in Gaza. Israel is also facing a genocide case at the International Court of Justice related to its military actions in the enclave.
