Iran Accuses U.S. of Attacking LPG Carrier in Strait of Hormuz

Jakarta:Iran's Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) reported that a liquefied petroleum gas carrier, named NV Sunshine, was struck and caught fire while attempting to navigate the Strait of Hormuz via an "illegal route" on Friday.

According to Anadolu Agency, The IRGC stated that the vessel, owned by the Natwit company, suffered significant damage, including a massive fire in its engine room and propulsion system. The statement attributed the incident to the "aggressor American army," accusing it of escalating tensions in the region's maritime activities.

The Revolutionary Guard emphasized that its naval forces would not tolerate "invading forces" in the area and were prepared to counter "any enemy attempts to disrupt its management." This incident occurs amidst increased tensions in the Strait of Hormuz, where Iran has cautioned vessels against using unauthorized routes.
