Iran: Iran's Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps stated that it shot down an American MQ-9 drone over Qeshm Island in the Strait of Hormuz during the early hours of Wednesday morning.

According to Anadolu Agency, the IRGC announced that Iranian air defense systems detected the MQ-9 drone at 2.29 am local time (2300GMT Tuesday) and successfully shot it down. This incident marks the 52nd MQ-9 drone that has been shot down, as reported by the IRGC.

The US military has not yet responded to the IRGC's claim. This development follows a previous statement by the IRGC on Tuesday, where they reported the downing of three MQ-1 drones over the Strait of Hormuz and its surrounding areas.

The ongoing conflict in the region saw heightened tensions on February 28, when the US and Israel launched large-scale attacks against Iran, targeting various strategic sites including government buildings, military locations, missile infrastructure, and air defenses. In retaliation, Iran executed missile and drone attacks targeting Israel and US bases throughout the region.

Efforts to diplomatically resolve the conflict continue amidst the expanding war in the region.
