Tehran: Iran has claimed the legal right to withdraw from the Nuclear Non-Proliferation Treaty (NPT) following US military strikes on its nuclear facilities, as stated by a senior Iranian lawmaker.

According to Anadolu Agency, Abbas Golroo, the chairman of the Committee on Foreign Relations of the Iranian Parliament, announced on his X account that Article X of the treaty allows Tehran to exit the NPT. He explained that each party has the sovereign right to withdraw from the treaty if extraordinary events related to the treaty's subject matter threaten the nation's supreme interests.

US President Donald Trump declared on Sunday that US forces had bombed three Iranian nuclear sites, specifically targeting facilities in Fordo, Natanz, and Isfahan. The attacks represent the latest intensification in a US-backed Israeli military campaign against Iran that began on June 13. In response to the strikes, Tehran launched retaliatory attacks on Israel.

Israeli officials have reported that at least 25 people have been killed and hundreds injured due to Iranian missile strikes. Concurrently, the Iranian Health Ministry reported that the Israeli assault has resulted in the deaths of 430 individuals and injured more than 3,500 in Iran.
