Tehran: Iran on Saturday criticized French President Emmanuel Macron for his recent comments, accusing him of choosing to "spin" Tehran's nuclear program, which they described as "shameful." This comes amid an ongoing military escalation with Israel.

According to Anadolu Agency, Macron stated that he had spoken with Iranian President Masoud Pezeshkian regarding the seriousness of Iran's nuclear issue. Macron emphasized the need for resolution through negotiation, urging President Pezeshkian to return to the negotiating table swiftly to reach an agreement, which he believes is the only way to defuse the current situation. Macron expressed France's readiness to contribute to and support efforts to achieve this goal.

Further complicating the situation, the sixth round of indirect nuclear talks between the US and Iran, initially scheduled for Sunday in Muscat, has been canceled, as confirmed by Oman's foreign minister. Meanwhile, tensions have escalated with Israel bombing Iran's atomic facilities and targeting its top commanders and nuclear scientists early Friday, leading to continued attacks. In response, Iran has launched retaliatory strikes.

Adding to the pressure, US President Donald Trump has urged Iran to accept a nuclear deal to prevent further attacks. The heightened tensions underscore the critical need for diplomatic efforts to address the nuclear issue and restore stability in the region.
