Ankara: Iran's Khatam al-Anbiya Central Headquarters announced on Saturday that the Strait of Hormuz "will be closed," citing a US "breach" of commitments and ongoing Israeli ceasefire violations in southern Lebanon.

According to Anadolu Agency, the headquarters released a statement through state-run Press TV, highlighting that the decision to close the Strait of Hormuz was due to the United States' "clear breach of faith and violation of its commitments." This breach was associated with the non-implementation of Clause 1 of the Memorandum of Understanding, which had been signed the previous week with the aim of ending the ongoing conflict.

The statement further mentioned the "continuous ceasefire violations by the Israeli regime in southern Lebanon" and criticized the failure of Israeli forces to withdraw from southern Lebanese territories. In light of these actions, the statement declared, "It is hereby declared that the Strait will be closed to the passage of vessels."
