Ankara: Iran executed on Monday a prisoner convicted of espionage for Israel's Mossad intelligence agency, local media said.
According to Anadolu Agency, Mizan News, a media outlet affiliated with Iran's judiciary, reported that Bahman Choobi-asl was hanged due to his 'extensive and deliberate cooperation' with Mossad. Choobi-asl, recognized as a specialist in database systems, was described as 'one of the most important spies of the Zionist (Israeli) regime in Iran,' having high-level access to critical governmental databases in the country.
The media outlet elaborated that Choobi-asl received training from Israeli intelligence and held face-to-face meetings with Mossad agents across various countries. Despite the severity of the accusations, there has been no comment from Israeli authorities regarding the report.
In recent years, both Iran and Israel have repeatedly announced the dismantling of spy networks, reflecting the ongoing rivalry between the two nations, often described as arch-foes in the region.
