Tehran: Iranian President Masoud Pezeshkian said on Sunday that Tehran is in "a full-scale war," stating that the government is seeking to overcome difficulties.

According to Anadolu Agency, Pezeshkian declared in a televised speech carried by the state-run news agency IRNA that Iran is embroiled in a "full-scale economic, military and security war." He acknowledged the government's embarrassment over existing economic problems but reaffirmed Iran's commitment to standing firm against external pressures.

Pezeshkian criticized US President Donald Trump's administration for imposing severe sanctions on Iran, labeling the situation as an "unequal war." Despite these challenges, he emphasized Iran's resilience and strength, noting that the nation has defied expectations of collapse and emerged as a global power through its resistance and unity.

In his speech, Pezeshkian emphasized the importance of avoiding internal divisions and conflicts, highlighting Tehran's efforts to maintain national solidarity. He mentioned that Iran and the US had signed a memorandum of understanding in June, facilitated by Pakistani and Qatari mediation, which aimed to end hostilities that began in February. However, discussions have been hindered by disagreements over the memorandum's implementation and issues surrounding navigation through the Strait of Hormuz, a crucial channel for worldwide oil and gas transportation.
