Ankara: Iran said Sunday that it had intercepted and destroyed 'hostile' targets over the southern province of Bushehr after an Israeli airstrike on two military sites.

According to Anadolu Agency, the deputy governor of Bushehr province stated that the attack was a continuation of the Zionist regime's violation of Iranian territory. The Tasnim news agency reported that air defenses in the province were immediately activated to identify and destroy the hostile targets.

The semi-official Mehr news agency reported loud explosions in Bushehr, which is home to Iran's only nuclear power plant. No details were provided about any damage following the incident. The nuclear facility in Bushehr, located on the Persian Gulf coast, is central to Iran's nuclear energy program and is monitored by the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA).

In the central city of Yazd, local air defenses were reported to be on high alert, although further details were not provided. The Fars News Agency also reported the engagement of air defense systems in Isfahan to confront 'hostile' micro air vehicles.

US President Donald Trump announced that his forces bombed three Iranian nuclear sites in Fordo, Natanz, and Isfahan. These attacks marked the latest escalation in the US-backed Israeli military assault on Iran since June 13, prompting retaliatory attacks by Tehran on Israel.

Israeli authorities reported that at least 25 people have been killed and hundreds injured due to Iranian missile attacks. Meanwhile, the Iranian Health Ministry stated that in Iran, 430 people have died and more than 3,500 have been wounded due to the Israeli assault.
