Ankara: Iran's Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) announced early Tuesday that it had launched missile and drone strikes targeting US military sites in Kuwait and Bahrain. The attacks, which specifically targeted a Patriot air defense system, radar installations, and communications facilities, mark an escalation in Iran's military activities across the Gulf.

According to Anadolu Agency, the IRGC detailed that in Kuwait, the Ali Al Salem Air Base was specifically targeted. The strikes reportedly hit an MQ-9 drone hangar, resulting in the destruction or severe damage of several drones. Furthermore, a long-range radar site, a communications center, satellite-receiving systems, and a US missile defense radar were also destroyed in the attack.

In Bahrain, the IRGC stated that a separate operation successfully destroyed a US radar facility and a Patriot air defense system. These attacks form part of what the IRGC describes as the second phase of the 24th wave of Operation Nasr 2, with their operations set to continue.

The recent military exchanges between the US and Iran follow a period of heightened tensions. The US has increased its military actions against Iran, prompting Iran to retaliate by targeting facilities and bases it claims are used by the US military in various regional countries. This ongoing conflict is occurring despite a Pakistan-brokered memorandum of understanding signed in June aimed at ending hostilities and establishing a lasting peace agreement.
